"Home," Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Seriously. I defy you to listen to this song and not smile. I intentionally kept this song off my iPod to save it for race day. When it kicked on around mile 11 of the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon, a smile spread across my face and it stayed there until I crossed the finish line. (For real: I have photographic evidence.)

Loved Betty White on "Saturday Night Live" this week. However, did anyone else find her getup in "The Manuel Ortiz Show" sketch reminiscent of ... E.T.?

Running song of the month

"Close to Me," The Cure
This has always been one of my favorite Cure songs, but only recently did I give it a go on a running playlist. Man, I've been missing out. Great tempo and beat, and the clapping makes me pick up my feet just a little higher. Just try not to pay too much attention to the words; Robert Smith and Co. aren't really known for their uplifting lyrics.

Harry Potter web mania

Well, I know how I'm going to be killing time this week.

Scholastic launched its official Harry Potter site, chock full of quizzes about each book, a glossary of magical terms and more.

Also, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park opens this summer at Universal Studios in Orlando. Road trip, anyone?

"Putting Shame in Your Game," Beastie Boys

It's no secret that I often listen to the Beastie Boys while I run (or do anything, really). But this week, while my iPod was on shuffle, this song came on and I immediately kicked up my pace. My footsteps fall to the beat, it has outstanding samples, and any song that uses the word "quagmire" gets automatic awesome points.
